Becca’s Closet

2011-12 School Year Schedule

Becca’s Closet is open 2 weeks before and 1 week after local school dances.  During that window, the hours are 12:00 -4:00 on Saturdays and 3:30 – 5:30 on weekdays.  We are currently open January 7 – February 4 for winter dances.  Please call Mimi Graves, volunteer coordinator, at 541-419-9616 with questions or to volunteer.  We need both teen and adult volunteers.  Questions?  Feel free to email us at: beccascloset@bendscommunitycenter.org

Becca’s Closet is a national program that provides free formal attire to low-income high school students who otherwise would not be able to attend their prom/homecoming or other dances and events.  BCC is host of the Central Oregon chapter of Becca’s Closet which was founded in 2004 by teen Sara Persons and is now located in the basement of Bend’s Community Center.  Donations are gladly accepted and we are always looking for volunteers.

Dresses are donated by shops and community members.  Mirror Pond cleaners donates any needed dry cleaning.  The closet has over 1,700 dresses and is rapidly expanding their collection of guys dress clothing.  All items are available to loan to local teens for any school event.  Volunteering at Becca’s Closet is also very rewarding.  Teens are often emotional when they see how good they look.  Each year hundreds of dresses are loaned to students in Bend, Redmond, Mitchell, La Pine, Madras, Prineville, Sisters and Warm Springs.
